Our client is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to oversee the daily administration of the payroll system, procedures, and service delivery. The role involves ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, and contractual requirements, and that payments are processed accurately and timely each month.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supervising the Payroll Team to ensure accurate payments, timely production of payslips, statutory returns, and reports.
* Serving as the escalation point for internal queries from the Payroll Team and other related inquiries.
* Managing workload distribution among Payroll & Pensions Officers, including providing cover during leave and peak periods.
* Administering multiple pension schemes, ensuring proper reporting and prompt handling of queries from pension administrators.
* Ensuring statutory and pension scheme compliance, including monthly pension returns and auto-enrolment.
* Processing monthly payroll, including post-payroll reporting and general ledger uploads.
* Preparing and reconciling month-end payments and returns (HMRC, pension providers, etc.).
* Coordinating with internal and external auditors and providing necessary information.
* Staying updated on relevant regulations and sharing information with the team.
* Collaborating with other Operations teams within the POE division for process improvements.
* Working with the Payroll Manager to enhance payroll services and identify efficiency opportunities.
* Acting as Deputy for the Payroll Manager as needed.
* Performing additional duties and projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
