The role is to ensure maintenance support is continuously provided to the Management Team and production team to achieve a sustained improvement in overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and Maintenance KPIs, whilst assisting the production team in attaining "best in class" status.
The Maintenance Supervisor will have full accountability, control & responsibility for all mechanical/electrical maintenance issues on their shifts, whilst inputting programmed activities to the upcoming shifts being worked. This includes contractor selection and management to deliver the maintenance required.
5S Tools, Six Sigma, and Lean tools will be maintained and used by the maintenance supervisor to ensure the site moves to best in class.
The position is to be measured through achieving agreed safety, environmental, and other operational performance levels, whilst constantly seeking improvements for sustained business efficiencies.
Key accountabilities
The primary activity of the role involves managing maintenance on site and ensuring that you and the site team follow Heidelberg Materials' safe systems of work outlined in the IMS.
The performance emphasis for this role includes;
Health and Safety: Operating to the highest level of health and safety objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials Health and Safety Plan. Creating, implementing, and communicating a plan of continuous improvement on site. Creating and adhering to risk assessments, safe systems of work, and permits to work.
Environmental: Operating to the highest level of environmental objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials. Responsible for the organization and supervision of engineering/maintenance contractors as well as the onsite TPM team. Creating, implementing, and communicating a plan of continuous improvement on site.
Compliance: Ensuring all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to concerning all operational activities.
KPI Delivery: Achieving sustained OEE improvement to 85%+; Maintenance Schedule and Work Order Compliance; Improving the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) for all subunits and components; Reducing the Mean Time to Repair for maintenance through waste elimination.
Education/Qualification
Proficient and competent in mechanical engineering. Time-served apprentice or NVQ in maintenance engineering or at least 5 years' experience in a maintenance engineering-based role. HNC or HND in maintenance engineering is desirable. Basic understanding and skills of Microsoft Office / IT literacy. Electrical engineering proficiency is a bonus. NVQ Level 4 in SHE Quarry operations is a bonus. Open-minded to new ideas. Practical, results-focused, motivational, team-oriented, good communicator.
