Job Scope:
In addition to the core duties of a paraeducator, the ISS Paraeducator is responsible for supervising students assigned to the In-School Suspension room. This role includes maintaining accurate disciplinary records, delivering cafeteria-provided lunches, collecting and distributing classwork from teachers, and working cooperatively with school administrators.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and support students assigned to the ISS room for disciplinary reasons.
2. Maintain accurate records: student names, dates, assignments, attendance, offenses, referring teachers, and time periods.
3. Distribute and support completion of classroom assignments; provide instruction and guidance when appropriate.
4. Monitor and provide feedback on student progress during ISS.
5. Organize and maintain instructional materials for student use.
6. Communicate effectively and confidentially regarding student behavior and progress.
7. Participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings as required.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
9. Ability to work productively and empathetically with students.
10. Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, tact, and courtesy.
11. Strong communication and organizational skills.
12. Ability to understand and implement oral and written instructions.
13. Basic knowledge of core academic subjects (math, reading, language arts, etc.).
14. Familiarity with instructional techniques and classroom management.
15. Capable of maintaining student confidentiality and following ethical practices.
16. Physically able to meet the demands of the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
17. High school diploma required.
18. Must meet Highly Qualified compliance requirements:Possession of an Associate’s degree or Completion of 60 college credits or Successful completion of the Paraprofessional Assessment Exam (ParaPro).
19. Willingness to support English Language Learners.
20. Experience working with children preferred.
Working Conditions:
21. 32.5 hours per week, 6.5 hours per day, 7:30am-2:30pm Monday-Friday
22. Hourly Rate: $23.00 per hour
