NRL is working with a leading engineering organisation with a strong reputation for innovation, precision, and quality. The company operates a busy workshop and manufacturing facility in Rugby, delivering engineered solutions across multiple sectors. Due to continued growth and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards, they are seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to join their site-based team.
The Role
As the EHS Advisor, you will be the on‑site champion for Environment, Health & Safety standards across the workshop and manufacturing plant. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll provide guidance, drive compliance, and foster a positive safety culture throughout the operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Working with the EHS Lead develop, understand, and maintain the Clients project plan using the EHS management tools.
* Support EHS Leader to ensure required compliance activities aligned to in‑country legislation such as DSEAR, LOLER, PUWER, COSHH regulations.
* Support Contractor Management across the site, processing permits to work considering aspects not limited to LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, Lift Plans aligned to the Clients standards.
* Oversee day‑to‑day EHS activities across the workshop and production areas.
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring adherence to company and statutory requirements.
* Support incident investigations, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
* Deliver EHS training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to staff and contractors.
* Manage documentation including RAMS, COSHH assessments, permits to work, and safety records.
* Promote continuous improvement, working with supervisors and engineering teams to enhance safety processes.
* Ensure environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
* Act as a key point of contact for regulatory bodies, visitors, and internal stakeholders on all EHS matters.
Requirements
* Previous experience in an EHS role within engineering, manufacturing, workshop, or industrial environments.
* Strong understanding of UK H&S legislation and best practice.
* Working towards or holds NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
* Preferred experience and knowledge of the risks involved in either/or mechanical machining, mechanical assembly/fitting and HV electrical works.
* Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
