This post is to replace a retiring colleague. This post will include responsibility for patients across a broad spectrum of rheumatology but with a focus on connective tissue disease and vasculitis. This will include being part of our connective tissue diseases and vasculitis team and our Inflammatory Arthritis Service, including the National Early Inflammatory Arthritis Audit. The successful applicant will be responsible for a mixed caseload of both new patients and inheritance of some existing follow up patients. The role will include involvement in our regular multidisciplinary team meetings, supporting our specialised commissioned services and regional advice provision.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will share responsibility for running and ensuring best practice in our rheumatology service. This will include supervision and training of junior doctors, clinical nurse specialists, clinical pharmacists, and allied health professionals. Active contribution to the multidisciplinary team meetings (where relevant this can include for inflammatory arthritis, AxSpA, metabolic bone, radiology, histopathology plus local and regional connective tissue disease MDT meetings) Provision of long term care to an existing cohort of patients and management of new referrals. Contribute medical support to the multidisciplinary team and ensure training and safety standards are met. Set up regular audit and quality improvement cycles. Involvement in the department's participation with teaching across the medical undergraduate and graduate curriculum and support supervision and clinical oversight of AHP and nursing departmental teaching.
