Mott MacDonald delivers designs for major below‑ground civil projects, including Crossrail, Thames Tideway, and the Baku Metro. Our Geotechnics Practice supports foundations, tunnelling, and civil design through digital modelling, site investigation, and risk management.
Responsibilities
* Prepare desk studies and plan, supervise and report on ground investigations to Eurocode 7.
* Develop visualisations of digital ground data using Leapfrog, Openground and related modelling platforms.
* Interpret ground models and derive design parameters for foundations, substructures, slopes, earthworks, reinforced‑earth and retaining structures.
* Conduct soil and rock mechanics analyses and classify rock masses using rock‑mass rating systems.
* Prepare technical reports, risk assessments and specifications.
* Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary specialists to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions.
Candidate Specifications
* Less than 12 months of relevant work experience.
* Degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering (expected within 12–24 months is acceptable).
* Demonstrated initiative, independent task completion and strong written communication.
* Analytical problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
* Proactive engagement in modules, projects or research related to geotechnical or engineering geology.
