Victoria Hospital
Ward 31 is a 23 bedded, dedicated fracture neck of femur ward and the only ward of its kind in Scotland. It is a busy and forward thinking ward within a diverse directorate, working collaboratively across the Orthopaedic Department.
Our patient population is predominantly frail and elderly, with many patients experiencing delirium, dementia and a range of acute medical conditions alongside complex orthopaedic needs. Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment is essential to supporting high quality, compassionate and person centred care.
The Ward Housekeeper plays a vital role within the ward team, supporting patient care through high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention and control, meal service support and stock management. The role contributes significantly to patient comfort, dignity and safety, particularly for our vulnerable patient group.
Successful applicants will join a friendly, motivated and supportive multidisciplinary team who work closely together to ensure the smooth running of the ward. The team includes nursing staff, medical staff, therapists and support services, all committed to delivering the highest standards of care.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dedicated orthopaedic team, develop valuable skills and make a meaningful contribution to the care and wellbeing of a complex and rewarding patient group.
Candidates with experience or a genuine interest in delivering person centred care, particularly for patients living with dementia or delirium, would be advantageous; however, full training and support will be provided.
Applicants must be able to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate the resilience required to cope with the constant and sometimes competing demands of a busy acute ward environment.
Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection prevention within a ward environment, in line with NHS policies and procedures.
Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, including the correct use of cleaning equipment, materials and chemicals.
Experience of working in a healthcare, care or similar environment would be desirable.
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a busy ward setting.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with nursing staff, patients and visitors.
Understanding of health and safety requirements, including manual handling and COSHH.
Reliable, flexible and able to adapt to changing ward needs.
We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and hardworking individual who is committed to providing high quality care and who wants to make a meaningful difference to patients and their families.
This post offers the opportunity to develop professionally within a supportive multidisciplinary team, with access to learning, skills development, and experience caring for a complex and rewarding patient group.
