Senior Teaching Assistants - Permanent Roles
Birkett House School has vacancies for permanent full-time Senior Teaching Assistant(s). Birkett House is an all-age special school for pupils with learning difficulties, with multiple sites in South Leicestershire. The main site is in Wigston, with inclusion units at Thistly Meadow Primary School (Blaby), Little Hill Primary School (Wigston), Thomas Estley Community College (Broughton Astley) and a dedicated Senior Department in Countesthorpe.
Job Information
The current vacancies are within our main Wigston site, our Senior Department or at our group based at Little Hill Primary School. A senior teaching assistant is an integral member of a class team who works closely with the teacher to support teaching and learning and to direct other teaching assistants within the team. The school provides a comprehensive professional development programme. Please refer to the job description and person specification for further information about the role.
Responsibilities
* Assist and support the class teacher in delivering teaching and learning for pupils with learning difficulties.
* Direct and oversee other teaching assistants operating within the class team.
* Support pupil progress, behaviour management, and display inclusive practice.
* Contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of pupils in line with school policies.
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 (or working towards this level) or equivalent higher qualification.
* Maths/English qualification to NVQ level 2.
Contract and Hours
* Contract type: Term time only (38 weeks per year) + 5 additional training days
* Contract term: Full time, Permanent
* Hours: 32.50 hrs/wk 8.30am to 3.45pm (Wigston Site/Little Hill site) or 33.75 hrs/wk 8am to 3.15pm (Seniors)
* Grade: Grade 7, Point 11 (£13.90 per hour)
* Actual starting salary: £20,172 (Wigston/Little Hill Site) or £20,950 (Seniors site) pro rata of F.T.E. £26,832
