Offer description

This isn't just another job listing and we're not looking for just another applicant. We put a lot into finding the right person, we're looking for someone who puts the same into applying.

Natural rapport with young people: required.
Previous tutoring experience: optional.

Most tutoring companies ask for experience. We're asking for something harder to find.

It's the kind of person who makes a student feel like the hour went too fast.

The kind of person a student would pick first if they got to choose who helped them.

No qualification teaches that. You either have it or you don't.

If you have it, we'll teach you absolutely everything else.

Who we are.

We're a growing tutoring company based in Slough. We work with students from primary school through to GCSE, we've built our own teaching method, and we're serious about who we bring into the team. The families who trust us with their children deserve consistency, quality, and people who genuinely care.

We don't hire often. When we do, we take our time. We're looking for someone who wants to find a home here, not someone passing through.

Asking great questions matters more to us than knowing all the answers.

We're not looking for a finished product. We're looking for the right person. Someone curious, warm, and genuinely invested in watching young people grow. Someone reliable not because they have to be, but because that's just who they are.

We're not looking for someone with all the experience. We're looking for someone with all the drive.

What working here actually looks like.

You'll work fixed days each week, you'll always know exactly what you're committing to. Sessions are 1:1, so your relationships with students are real and consistent. We provide the car. We provide the training. We provide the resources.

What we ask for in return is that when you're with a student, you're completely with that student. And when you're done for the day, you're done. We respect people's time outside of work and we expect the people we hire to respect their own too.

Beyond the sessions themselves, this is a role with genuine variety and real responsibility. You'll be wearing multiple hats, and we mean that seriously, not as a footnote. Alongside tutoring you'll be involved in:

* Building and designing worksheets, activities and learning materials that become part of our permanent resource library
* Supporting with scheduling, emails and day-to-day admin using tools like Notion and Google Drive
* Helping shape new ideas for lessons and how we deliver them
* Contributing to business development and how we grow, your perspective as someone working directly with students is genuinely valuable here
* Using and learning simple tools and workflows that keep the business running smoothly

Most roles ask you to deliver. This one asks you to think, build and shape. If that excites you — good. That's exactly what we need.

You'll be a great fit if:

* Young people warm to you quickly, it's not something you do, it's something you are
* You're patient in the way that actually counts, not just when it's easy
* You take reliability seriously without needing to be told to
* You want to be part of something growing, not just along for the ride
* You hold a full UK driving licence
* You have or are willing to complete an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS, we cover the cost

We've hired people with years of experience who weren't right. We're looking for someone who is, whatever their experience level.

The package:

* £16–£23/hr depending on experience
* Salary reviewed at 6 months — we recognise people who deliver
* Fixed days per week — simple, honest, no surprises
* Company car for all sessions
* Full training — everything you need to know, we'll teach you
* A role where your character matters more than your CV
* Start date mid July

A lot of companies will ask you to fit into something already built. We're asking something different.

We're not handing you a finished product. We're inviting you into the process.

The resources you help create will be the ones the next hire learns from. The sessions you help develop will shape how we teach for years. The systems you help build will still be running long after you've moved on, with your fingerprints on them.

We're at the stage where the right person doesn't just do the job. They help define what the job looks like. Your ideas won't disappear into a suggestion box. They'll end up in the curriculum, in the way we run sessions, in the structure of everything we build next.

If that kind of ownership excites you rather than intimidates you, you're probably exactly who we're looking for.

Want in?

Send us your CV and a short note about why this one caught your eye.

To apply, start your message with the word Spark. Small thing. It's a small thing. It tells us you've actually read this, which already puts you ahead of most.

Shortlisted candidates will have a brief phone call, then an interview, a short Maths assessment, and a paid trial session before any offer is made.

When we receive an application we consider the person, not just the position. If this particular opening isn't quite right but you clearly are, we'll keep you in mind.

We don't hire often. We hire well. If you think that's a conversation worth having, we'd love to hear from you.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £16.00-£23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 14 per week

* Do you live within a reasonable commuting distance of Slough SL1 (45 minutes or less)?
