Job Summary
We are seeking a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Haringey Learning Disability Partnership (HLDP). This is one of three consultant posts in the service, filling a vacancy following a previous post-holder's transition to an academic role. The role is based at 48 Station Road, Haringey, London N22 7TY, with outpatient clinics at Winkfield Resource Centre, N22 5RP.
Main Duties
* Provide consultant input and leadership across HLDP's mental health pathways (mental illness, ADHD, autism, dementia, challenging behaviour).
* Manage a caseload of approximately 50 adults with learning disabilities, half with complex needs.
* Work with the Assessment and Intervention Team (AIT) to prevent inpatient admissions and support community placements.
* Contribute to Care Programme Approach (CPA) care coordination, risk management, and quality improvement projects.
* Support transitions from CAMHS‑LD to adult services and liaise with forensic LD services.
* Participate in teaching, supervision, CPD, and governance activities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a licence to practice. Suitably on the specialist register or within six months of gaining a Certificate of Completion of Training.
* Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility) – able to act as a Responsible Clinician.
* Registered with the Royal College of Psychiatrists CPD programme and in good standing.
* Shared Services training up to date to be an approved trainer/clinical supervisor.
* Knowledge and observance of GMC Good Medical Practice principles.
* Clinical knowledge of the full range of mental disorders and experience assessing complex cases involving severe and enduring mental illness and significant risk histories.
* Expertise in evidence‑based treatment and case management options including pharmacotherapy.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding practices.
* Experience in workplace assessments of doctors in training.
* Understanding of clinical commissioning and external organisations that interface with an NHS Trust.
* Experience organising and chairing meetings, and good understanding of Trust governance structures.
* Willingness to participate in research and to apply it within the duties of the post.
* Ability to organise workload, manage time and delegate responsibility, and to work flexibly and adaptively.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to influence others.
* Strong knowledge of written and spoken English.
* Teaching and supervision skills for undergraduate medical students, doctors in training and multi‑professional staff.
* Ability to work in a team environment and develop effective working relationships with all levels of staff.
* Experience undertaking clinical audit and handling serious incidents and complaints.
* Enthusiasm for pathology and willingness to share knowledge and experience.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent higher qualification in psychiatry.
* Other relevant postgraduate qualification (including those gained outside the UK).
* Trained as an educational supervisor for doctors in training.
* Training as a consultant mentor.
* Experience teaching small and large groups.
* Experience developing policies and protocols.
* Experience of service development.
* Special interest or willingness to develop one that meets the needs of the Trust.
* Experience successfully delivering research projects.
