Backed by a clear strategic vision and growing demand, the organisation is now expanding its operations and seeking a Head of Production to take ownership of the full production function at its Oxfordshire-based facility. This role offers the chance to lead a skilled technical team, optimise workshop operations, and play a key part in shaping the future of the company’s manufacturing capability.
Role Overview
The Head of Production will oversee all aspects of the production function, from managing day-to-day workshop activities to implementing long-term production strategy and systems. This is a hands-on leadership role, suitable for someone with deep technical understanding of vehicle development and a passion for delivering high-quality builds.
You'll be responsible for managing a skilled production team, building robust operational processes, and working cross-functionally with engineering and procurement to ensure timely and efficient vehicle delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the entire production function, ensuring efficient, high-quality, and timely builds.
* Manage and develop a multi-disciplinary workshop team, fostering performance and accountability.
* Plan and oversee vehicle production schedules, part availability, workshop workflow, and resource allocation.
* Create and maintain detailed BOMs (Bills of Materials) for multiple vehicle projects.
* Manage budgets, inventory, and tooling needs for ongoing and future production.
* Work closely with the engineering team to support prototyping, technical handovers, and build feedback.
* Maintain and enforce best practices around safety, quality control, and workshop operations.
* Help scale up production capacity and team structure in line with business growth.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, attention to detail, and delivery excellence.
Candidate Requirements
* Proven leadership experience in a Production Manager or Head of Production role within the automotive sector.
* Deep understanding of vehicle build processes, ideally with exposure to low-volume or bespoke automotive manufacturing.
* Demonstrated experience in project or programme management, with a structured and proactive mindset.
* Experience building and managing BOMs, working closely with engineering and procurement functions.
* Ability to lead small to medium-sized teams in a dynamic, fast-paced workshop environment.
* Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
