Job Purpose
The FP&A Partner role supports core FP&A functions, including:
1. The production of the business plan and forecasting,
2. Management of the P&L for the respective business,
3. Acting as a liaison for the CFO and Finance function with business units,
4. Providing insightful analysis of financial and commercial performance against Plan and forecast to UK management and our parent company in Canada.
The FP&A Partner works closely with Pricing and Distribution teams to understand trading and commercial performance, ensuring new business meets ROI targets and aligns with risk appetite. The role also involves providing independent review and challenge of business performance and initiatives to support competitive positioning and financial outlook.
Duties/Responsibilities
Supports the Head of FP&A and Financial Performance Director to deliver an effective FP&A function, managing the P&L and partnering with relevant business lines. Oversees forecasting, planning, analysis, and management reporting to support strategic decisions, including expense discipline.
Key Outputs Include
* Management Information
* Annual budgeting and forecasting (including quarterly reforecasting)
* Commentary on Canadian earnings versus plan
* UK local entity reporting including UK GAAP / IFRS financial statements and Solvency II (if applicable)
Skills, Knowledge And Experience
* Part Qualified or Qualified Actuary/Accountant with strong financial services experience and understanding of the marketplace and competitors
* Ability to build collaborative relationships across functions
* Strategic understanding of the life insurance industry
* Excellent analytical, risk management, and financial planning skills
* Ability to interpret and apply actuarial/finance techniques to business problems
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to address technical and non-technical audiences
* Strong influencing skills
* Ability to work collaboratively within a matrix organisational structure
