The Role
With preparations underway for the new season ahead, we have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our busy Farm Team
As Agronomy Manager at Barfoots, you will be responsible for improving crop performance through cost effective yield increase, maintaining harvest product quality whilst promoting modern processes as well as maintaining sustainability with due care for the environment.
Reporting to the Farm Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities in designated areas, including crop protection nutrient management, problem solving and ensuring all legislative regulation is complied with. Candidates will also need to implement and maintain IPM programs, spray plans liaising with the Farm Teams as appropriate.
Location: Sefter Farm, PO21 3PX.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Planning of Crop Husbandry, Chemical and Fertiliser
2. Create an agricultural chemical and fertiliser budget
3. Plan application usage for all crops
4. Update PPPI’s and food expert’s database in a timely manner
5. Create a nutrient management plan
6. Write deployments for digestate as and when necessary
7. Produce risk and spreading maps for liquid and fibre digestate where needed
8. Ensure the audit requirements are kept up to date. (Assured Produce, ACCS, Leaf, Global Gap)
9. Effective management of the chemical and fertiliser stores including monthly stock takes
10. Oversee weed, pest, and disease management Strategies
11. Conduct Agronomic research to improve crop yields
12. Staying updated with advancements in agronomy
13. Develop and manage agronomy budgets and forecasts
14. Implement new precision framing techniques
15. Collaborate with Chemical and seed suppliers on trials and future developments
16. Crop Walking & writing recommendations for all crops, chemicals and fertilisers
Requirements
17. Degree or equivalent level qualification in relevant subject
18. BASIS Certificate
19. FACTS Certificate
20. Member of the Professional register
21. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
22. Strong literacy and numerical skills
23. Conversant in the use of MS Office applications, email.
24. Attention to detail
25. Full UK Driving licence
