Description Students and staff from the School of English have produced a poetry anthology designed to be read and used in care homes and other dementia care settings (hospitals and memory cafes). The anthology project aims to provide meaningful activities for people living in care settings and ultimately to help promote wellbeing. The Student Research Assistant will help to deliver training sessions regarding the use of the anthology (training for care home and other workers). The Assistant will also help to evaluate the anthology through designing and distributing surveys to and conducting interviews with stakeholders. Start Date: 01/09/2025 End Date:09/01/2026 Working Hours: 80 hours to be arranged between 01/09/26 - 09/01/26 Pay Rate: £16.78 per hour plus holiday pay Location: University of Nottingham and care homes in Nottinghamshire Dress Code: Casual The duties will include: Attend and assist in delivering poetry anthology training sessions. Distribute feedback surveys in paper and online to users of the anthologies at in person training sessions and follow up by email afterwards. Meet with stakeholders (care homes, hospital, memory café) to hold 1 hour interviews about the anthology and record and note-take these. Collate and type up feedback from surveys and interviews. Skills and experience required for the role: Current postgraduate (taught or research) student at The University of Nottingham Love of poetry and ability to read (poetry) aloud confidently and clearly to others. Excellent interpersonal, listening and verbal communication skills. Experience of designing and conducting surveys and interviews. Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team. High levels of spoken and written English. Desirable skills and qualities: Knowledge of dementia or experience of working with people with dementia. Experience of working with older people or in a care environment. Experience of working with disadvantaged communities. Passionate about poetry and arts interventions.
