An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Clinical Care Support Worker to join our busy and expanding Ophthalmology Service.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a high standard of patient-centred care across ophthalmology outpatient clinics and associated services. The post holder will support the assessment, investigation and treatment of patients with a range of ophthalmic conditions, working with a degree of autonomy under the direction of registered nursing and medical staff.
This role offers excellent opportunities for training and development within a specialist clinical area
Main duties of the job
* Provide high-quality direct patient care in ophthalmology outpatient and related settings
* Assist with patient assessments, examinations, investigations and treatments
* Undertake ophthalmic imaging and visual assessments (training provided)
* Prepare, clean and maintain clinical equipment and consulting rooms
* Act as a chaperone and support clinicians during examinations and procedures
* Maintain accurate and timely patient records using electronic systems
* Ensure patient safety and adhere to Trust policies, procedures and protocols
* Participate in training, service development and quality improvement activities
* Support staff and act as a positive role model within the team

Person Specification
Qualifications
* 5 GCSE or equivalent Grade C or above, Including Maths and English.
* NVQ Level 3 or NHS accredited Care Certificate
* Experience working with patient management systems
Experience
* A background working in hospital setting with experience in the ophthalmology outpatient setting or nursing patients with visual impairment
* Commitment to providing high standards of care
* Previous experience working in all Ophthalmology setting
Knowledge
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Evidence of internal training and study
