Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our internationally renowned Perioperative Medicine Team for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) and Prehabilitation Service. We are looking for someone with experience in undertaking clinical cardiopulmonary exercise tests as part of preparing patients for surgery.

We are a dynamic team assessing, educating, and supporting patients prior to major planned surgery, from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Our service is delivered Monday to Friday to over 1000 patients per year. What You’ll Do
* Organise and undertake cardiopulmonary exercise testing for patients referred to the Perioperative Medicine Service.
* Assist senior physiologists and contribute to the operational management of the CPET lab.
* Assist with the delivery of our Exercise Prehabilitation Service.
What We’re Looking For
We seek someone with applied clinical exercise physiology experience, at least 1-2 years of clinical work, and experience conducting cardiopulmonary exercise tests. The ability to interpret exercise electrocardiograms is essential. Ideally, you will be accredited or working towards accreditation with a recognised Exercise Professional Body (e.g., ACSM). Demonstrated experience in clinical exercise prescription and physical fitness to stand long periods and wear PPE is required.

Qualifications / Training Required
Essential criteria
* BSc in Physiological Sciences (e.g., Sport, Exercise, or Health sciences, Clinical or Sport Physiology)
* GCSE or equivalent
* Electrocardiography Interpretation
Desirable criteria
* Physiologists (RCCP), ARTP membership
* Masters in Physiology or related field
Previous or relevant experience necessary
Essential criteria
* Exercise physiology knowledge and experience
* Clinical experience with physiological measurements (spirometry, ECG, blood pressure)
* Experience interpreting exercise ECGs
* Experience in a clinical physiology lab performing CPET
