We are working in partnership with a well-regarded SEND school in Sittingbourne that caters to both primary and secondary-aged pupils with SEMH challenges. This is a rewarding opportunity to join a dedicated team and deliver engaging physical education that supports emotional wellbeing and personal growth. Contract: Full time, starting asap until at least Christmas Salary: £168 to £232 per day Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons tailored to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across primary and secondary age groups Promote physical activity as a tool for emotional regulation, teamwork, and self-confidence Adapt activities to meet a wide range of physical and emotional abilities, ensuring inclusivity and safety Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s therapeutic approach Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff to support individual learning and development plans Monitor and assess pupil progress, contributing to EHCP reviews and behaviour support plans Qualifications & Experience: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent – preferred but not essential Strong understanding of SEMH and SEND, with experience supporting children with behavioural and emotional needs Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent, and proactive manner Experience teaching PE or delivering structured physical activity sessions in a school or alternative provision setting Relevant sports coaching qualifications or youth work background – advantageous Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation training – desirable Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) Benefits: Access to tailored professional development and CPD opportunities.
