Location: Fishponds, BristolHours: Full-time (term-time) – day-to-day and longer-term opportunities available Start Date: As soon as possible Pay: Starting at £13.89/hour, dependent on experience About the Setting Axcis Education is working with a specialist alternative provision in Bristol that supports young people who have struggled to engage with mainstream education. The school provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils are given the opportunity to rebuild trust, re-engage with learning, and develop the social and emotional skills needed for success. Staff at this setting pride themselves on their relational approach – building strong, respectful relationships with students to inspire positive change. Role Summary As a Behaviour Mentor, you will: Work directly with students who struggle to engage or manage behaviour in mainstream settings, supporting their social, emotional and behavioural needs. Use a relational, motivational approach to build trust and connection: you will mentor individuals, facilitate small-group sessions and work proactively on behaviour strategies and routines. Apply quick-thinking, structured and clear approaches when behaviours escalate or routines are disrupted, helping students regain focus and engage positively. Collaborate closely with class teams, pastoral leads and senior staff to implement behaviour support plans, track progress and review interventions. Draw on your background in team-building, leadership or motivational roles (for example military, policing, sports coaching) to engage students, build resilience, model positive habits and help them succeed. Promote inclusion and ensure that every student has access to education, feeling safe, supported and valued. Who This Role Suits This role would be ideal for someone from a: Military or policing background, who brings leadership, resilience, and calm under pressure. Sports coaching or youth work background, where teamwork, motivation, and mentoring are key. Behavioural support or alternative provision setting, where patience, adaptability, and a sense of humour go a long way. You’ll be someone who: Believes in inclusion and second chances. Understands that behaviour is a form of communication and responds with empathy and structure. Is reliable, proactive, and confident working with young people aged 11–16 who need extra guidance and consistency. Values teamwork and wants to make a tangible difference in students’ lives.
