What's involved with this role: Job Title: Street Works Officer Ref: Brent 5266002 Pay rate: £20.74 per hour PAYE Role length: Anticipated 3 - 4 months Job type: Contract Additional requirement: Full clean UK driving licence The role We are seeking a proactive and organised Street Works Officer to support planning, control and co-ordination of the New Roads and Street Works Act function under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), Traffic Management Act 2004, and the National Permit Scheme. Working closely with the team leader, you’ll help reduce congestion by ensuring works on the public highway are effectively planned and compliant with legislation. Key Responsibilities: Assess and process permit applications, issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) and Section 74 warnings as required Monitor and inspect works on-site, liaising with utility and traffic management companies Maintain accurate records and performance data using internal systems Attend meetings with stakeholders, including elected members and statutory undertakers Support improvements to systems and processes that minimise disruption to the road network Act as the primary contact for your allocated area within the borough, offering practical solutions when needed Ensure compliance with all relevant policies including safeguarding, data protection, and environmental sustainability Liaise with external Traffic management companies / Utility companies to assess Traffic management Plans to ensure compliance with current legislation What the client is looking for: NRSWA Accredited to Supervisor Level LANTRA 12D Accredited -Traffic Management design Understanding of Highways Legislation Current and up to date knowledge of highway maintenance techniques Knowledge and understanding of the National Permit Scheme Knowledge and understanding of highway maintenance operations Experience of using performance indicators Experience of working as a Street Works Inspector How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
