Overview
Operations Engineer (Electrical) role at ScottishPower – Whitelee Windfarm, Fenwick. KA3 6EX. Salary from £48,400 with 10% Bonus and Single Person Healthcare. Flexible Working Pattern.
Taking a pro-active and reactive approach to engineering challenges, you will carry out duties of a Senior Authorised Person and Control Person as defined in the ScottishPower Electrical safety rules, allowing for a safe system of work for preventative or corrective activity associated with electrical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for site-wide safety/technical inspections/audits across the ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) portfolio, producing reports detailing issues and associated programmes to close-out, and co-ordinating response and resolution of emergent, dynamic electrical issues identified by the Site Operations “Site Supervisory” and “Control Centre” functions.
* Indirect management of Electrical sub-contractors, supporting SPR Site Supervisory staff, ensuring all Electrical site activities are planned and carried out safely and efficiently, maintaining optimal site performance without compromising safety.
* Contributing to the development, mentoring and ongoing assessment of contracting and internal staff (Field Supervisors, Operational Technicians, Apprentices); conducting diagnostic and fault-finding techniques to determine root causes and establish corrective strategies.
* Supporting the Electrical Networks Operations Manager in policy and process development for management of electrical infrastructure; providing technical input to Technical Services and Construction Engineering teams; ensuring documents, drawings and schematics are accurate and witnessing commissioning of plant and apparatus where practicable.
* Providing emergency call-out response for allocated sites; planning and managing resources for electrical work, prioritising field requests to ensure system safety and operability.
What you’ll bring
* Educated to HND or equivalent in an Electrical related engineering discipline, or equivalent operational experience; City and Guilds accreditation or equivalent in HV Network Operations.
* Willingness and ability to travel unrestricted across the UK and Ireland; practical experience operating and maintaining industrial HV and LV systems up to 33kV (132kV desirable with a DNO or generating company).
* Experience in holding Senior Authorised Person HV authorisation and/or Control Person authorisation; ability to work at heights (in excess of 70m) and in enclosed spaces on an infrequent basis.
