Job Description
The Environment Agency is fully committed to fostering an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We value diversity and strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued, benefiting our staff, communities, and environment.
This role offers an opportunity to apply your analytical skills to improve our environment and advance circular economy initiatives through a new Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for plastic bottles and cans. The DRS aims to reduce waste and promote sustainability across Britain.
You will lead data analytics efforts to support the implementation and development of the DRS regime. Your work will ensure data collected is accurate, robust, and effectively used to assess fraud, monitor compliance, and inform policy decisions.
By leveraging data, you can help streamline recycling processes, reduce environmental waste, and promote resource reuse. You will collaborate with colleagues across the Environment Agency, government departments, and industry stakeholders to translate policy into operational systems. Your analysis will identify patterns and trends to ensure the scheme functions effectively.
Your responsibilities include developing dashboards, reports, and models to support scheme enforcement and monitoring. Key tasks involve:
* Collaborating with policy, digital, and regulatory teams to shape the digital infrastructure and ensure data quality.
* Providing analytical insights to inform decision-making at various levels.
* Enhancing data governance and reporting standards for the scheme.
You will also develop a thorough understanding of the DRS regime and explore other producer responsibility schemes. Join our Producer Responsibility Team, which leads waste regulation reforms to conserve resources and minimize waste.

* Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex data into understandable insights.
* Ability to build trust and maintain respectful stakeholder relationships.
Desirable experience includes:
