Senior Supervisor - Brighton, East Sussex Job Type: Full Time Location: The Milk Shed (Prince Albert Street) The Role The Milk Shed is an independent coffee roastery with a growing presence and a second site on Prince Albert Street, specialising in dessert-inspired drinks and freshly baked New York-style stuffed cookies made in store. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Supervisor to join our team and help us continue delivering memorable experiences and high standards across the business. The Senior Supervisor will support the Site Manager in overseeing the day-to-day running of the store, with a strong focus on exceptional customer service, smooth operations, and maintaining consistently high standards across both drinks and bakery production. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, supports and motivates the team, and helps create an exciting and positive atmosphere in store. Key Responsibilities 1. Operations Management Support the daily running of the store to ensure efficient service across both front counter and drink preparation areas. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and company procedures. Assist with stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination to maintain availability of ingredients, packaging, and bakery items. Help oversee smooth production and presentation of in-store baked New York stuffed cookies and dessert drinks. 2. Staff Management Train, supervise, and motivate team members to consistently deliver excellent service and product quality. Lead by example during busy periods and provide hands-on support across all areas of the business. Foster a positive and energetic team culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and development. Conduct regular team briefings and 1-2-1 meetings to communicate updates, performance feedback, and business goals. 3. Customer Experience Deliver and maintain outstanding customer service standards at all times. Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently. Create a welcoming and exciting environment that encourages repeat visits and strong customer loyalty. Ensure products are presented to a high standard and that customers receive a consistently great experience. 4. Financial & Commercial Performance Support the Site Manager in monitoring sales performance and identifying opportunities to increase revenue. Assist with labour control, waste reduction, and stock management to help maximise profitability. Encourage upselling and promotion of featured drinks, cookies, and seasonal specials. 5. Marketing & Brand Engagement Work alongside the marketing team to support promotions, launches, and social media initiatives. Help drive excitement around new dessert drinks, cookie flavours, and limited-time specials. Support in-store events, collaborations, and promotional activities that strengthen community engagement and brand presence. 6. Quality Control Ensure all drinks, baked goods, and desserts meet The Milk Shed’s quality and presentation standards. Support the launch of new menu items and seasonal products, including team training and implementation. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and overall store appearance to create a premium customer experience. Requirements Previous experience in a Supervisor or Senior Team Leader role within hospitality, café, dessert, or food & beverage environments. Strong leadership and people-management skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety, and operational procedures. Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure. Passion for desserts, drinks, baking, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a hands-on approach to leadership.
