Role & Responsibilities
To assist the manager in managing the running of all Front of House Duties. This includes assisting the Manager with planning and pricing, assisting in the management with maintaining applicable quality standards and records whilst maintaining delegated responsibility for ordering and obtaining supplies, quality control and management of team members, subject to the guidance of the Manager .
Ensuring compliance with sanitation, hygiene, health and safety legislation, organisational and quality requirements and working policies and procedures.
To be able to manage the shop in the managers absence, be a key holder and be or become a competent Barrista.
Main Tasks/duties and responsibilities
– manage the preparation of all drinks/beverages
– to assist the Manager to manage planning and pricing of menus and food and drinks/beverages to adhere to agreed prices/budgets and maintain applicable quality standards and records
– manage ordering and obtaining supplies
– for ensuring sufficient team members at all times and within agreed budgets
– quality control of all supplies, food, drinks/beverages, hygiene and health and safety
– Set and meet your targets and those of the team as a whole
– smooth running of the team
– contribute to training and development of the team
– adhere to statutory obligations and agreed quality and best practice guidelines
– manage Front of House duties in absence of Manager to include taking and making reservations, taking and serving orders, clearing and preparing tables, prepare the bill and take payment, also preparation for the day and clean down after the day
– understand food preparation, allergies and cooking and the "ingredients" of food and beverage and train your team to enable the team to confidently deal with customer queries etc
– manage customers' expectations and assist in dealing with and resolving all queries
Day to day responsibilities for the team as agreed with the Manager to include:
– ensuring compliance to sanitation, hygiene, health and safety legislation and organisational and quality requirements and working policies and procedures.
– alongside the Manager manage the designing, planning, costing and pricing of menus
– manage and co-ordinate cake and beverage preparation
– quality management of cake and beverages
– investigate and resolve customer complaints
– effective liaison, support and assistance with the remainder of organisation
– allocate workloads to team members
– supervise, manage and direct the overall performance of the team
– maintaining accurate records and accounts as required and reporting as agreed
– set an example for team members of commitment, work ethic and habits and personal character
– responsibly use resources and control expenses to operate within budgetary controls
– adhere to all organisation policies and procedures
Experience
* Previous experience in a restaurant or cafe environment is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
* Excellent customer service skills with a passion for hospitality.
* Experience in barista duties or coffee preparation is a plus.
