Job Description
Keeping our employees safe is the number one priority for our organisation. The role of the Health & Safety Plant Lead in our Service Centre plays a key role in achieving this across our network. Your role will be to manage and facilitate all Health, Safety and Wellbeing activities across the Service Centre as a senior member of the Plant Leadership team.
Our Durham plant is has c45 heads on site, and we repair and respray pallets ready to go back into the supply chain for re-use. This is a hands-on role and requires a candidate who enjoys interfacing on the shop -floor and can demonstrate the ability to challenge, influence and engage all levels of the organisation.
Key responsibilities
1. Provide an environment where work-related health and safety risks are controlled to prevent injuries and occupational ill health.
2. Lead and develop our Safety Differently philosophy across the whole site through HOP and Learning Teams.
3. Lead and promote CHEP’s Zero Harm policies and practices, holding regular site meetings
4. Lead and monitor continuous improvement via systemic change based on data and root cause analysis of incidents, near misses and environmental occurrences
5. Develop employee occupational health & safety competencies through effective training across all levels of the plant.
6. Lead and facilitate all root cause investigations on all incidents and serious near miss reports to prevent recurrence. Learn from these investigations and share good practice across the European/Global Plant network.
7. Lead our employee wellbeing initiatives across the site including, safety week, occupational health assessments and other CHEP employee wellbeing initiatives.
What you’ll need;
8. Ideally, you’ll be NEBOSH General qualified
9. Good knowledge of relevant national Health, Safety & Wellbeing laws and regulations.
10. Excellent communication skills, to effectively engage and influence within the business at all levels
11. Motivated individual and self-starter who can drive projects and take ownership for implementation of solutions.
12. Good knowledge of HSE management systems
13. Analytical skills to understand and interpret data
14. Ability to work well under pressure whilst demonstrating strong organisational skills
