About the job
This role will be working as part of the Streetworks Team, whose function it is to ensure that all streetworks and road work activity is planned, inspected, processed and carried out in accordance with regulations.
The role will include supporting the planning, coordination and inspection of the street work and road work activity of public utility companies, the County Council and other contractors, in order to ensure that all road works are carried out within the boundaries of a strict legal framework.
The role will involve occasional roadside visits, occasionally in inclement weather, and the requirement to wear appropriate safety clothing and equipment.

1. Ability to organise and plan and meet set targets e.g. assist in the preparation of reports, plans and a range of written material.
2. Good communication and interpersonal skills in order to provide clear and concise information to a range of customers.
3. Ability to present information clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that promote understanding, either verbally or in written/electronic format.
4. Good literacy and numeracy skills in order to interpret written material and to respond to a range of correspondence.
5. Good IT skills for operating a range of IT applications for word processing, data processing, updating websites, and maintaining computer databases.
6. Strong customer focus with the ability to work as a contact and provide a professional service to meet public needs.
Qualifications and/or experience:
⦁ 5 GCSE’s with A-C (9-4) passes, including Maths and English, or equivalent qualification or demonstrable equivalent comparable experience.
⦁ Ability to deliver an effective, efficient professional service to a range of customers.
⦁ Experience of dealing with the general public.
⦁ Knowledge of systems, procedures and policies in an appropriate specialism.
⦁ Experience of working in a Highways, Transport or Planning discipline – Desirable
⦁ Experience of using specialist IT systems, for example Street Manager, Symology, Confirm, One.Network, GIS or CAD – Desirable
