Senior Tax Manager-Direct Tax

As Senior Tax Manager-Direct Tax, you will be responsible for the timely preparation of the UK Groups tax reporting disclosures, company tax returns and other direct tax compliance matters for an allocated portfolio. You will manage the UK Groups direct tax compliance requirements for BEPS Pillar 2, SAP4HANA and other related tax compliance projects. You will assist and act as a deputy to the Head of Direct Taxes providing support, training and guidance to other team members and the wider business including working closely with Finance Functions.
The role is located at East Kilbride with a hybrid working model - 2 days per week on site.
Your challenge for the Senior Tax Manager-Direct Taxes: -
Responsible for the preparation of and technical review of corporation tax computations for submission to HMRC for an allocated portfolio of complex entities within the UK Group in readiness for review by the Head of Direct Taxes and to manage all ancillary tasks pertaining to the process including improving tax processes that require direct interaction with Finance.
Assist with the finalisation of group elements of tax computations ready for submission to HMRC.
Responsible for the timely preparation of and technical review of the tax accounting and reporting disclosures for inclusion in the Group reporting packs (IFRS) and UK statutory accounts (UK GAAP) for the UK Group. Manage the UK statutory accounts tagging process for the UK Group.
Train and coach junior team members in the process as appropriate.
Responsible for supporting the SAO process; where it impacts direct tax, assist with the continuous development of SAP4/HANA to embed controls and improve data quality liaising with finance teams as necessary.
Manage the UK & Ireland groups financial reporting and compliance requirements for BEPS Pillar 2.
Research and understand changes to accounting standards and their impact in relation to corporation tax compliance.
Manage the calculations for cash tax quarterly forecast updates with consideration for commercial awareness of the Group, financial accounting processes and group tax strategy.
Proactively manage the professional development of team members in all matters relating to Direct Taxation and to foster a harmonious team working environment.
Key skills & experience for the Senior Tax Manager-Direct Taxes: -
CTA/ACA/CA/ACCA professional qualification or qualified by experience.
Corporate tax specialist with strong financial accounting knowledge/experience.
Excellent knowledge of Excel & Word.
Working knowledge of SAP/ S4 HANA is desirable.
Ability to keep up to date with changes to tax legislation
Prior experience of Alphatax preferred.
Experience of managing a team and coaching junior staff members.
High level of accuracy & attention to detail.
Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
Confident to challenge processes.
Drive, enthusiasm, flexibility, responsiveness and resourcefulness.
Ability to multi-task and react quickly to changing work demands.
Ability to explain complex technical tax issues to non-tax professionals.
Demonstratable management and coaching skills.
