Environmental & Regulatory Advisor – Offshore Decommissioning
Norwich | Permanent | Competitive Rate + Long Term contract
Want to play a part in the UK’s transition to Net Zero?
Decommissioning offshore oil and gas assets is a vital part of that journey and we’re looking for someone who wants to be part of it. This isn’t about box-ticking or doing things the way they’ve always been done. It’s about pushing for better, more sustainable outcomes in an industry that’s evolving fast.
We’re not necessarily looking for someone with deep decommissioning experience (though it helps). What really matters is a strong environmental mindset, good regulatory knowledge, and the ability to work closely with teams and regulators to make sure everything’s done properly, efficiently, and in line with what the planet needs.
The Role:
You’ll be part of the decommissioning team, providing environmental and regulatory support across a range of offshore projects. It’s a varied role where you’ll be drafting permit applications, managing compliance systems, reviewing internal procedures, and liaising with the likes of OPRED, the NSTA, and HSE.
You’ll also help lead on things like Environmental Appraisals, risk assessments (HAZIDs/ENVIDs), and contribute to sustainability improvements, whether that’s better bird management offshore or finding smart ways to reuse equipment.
What We’re After
We’re open-minded about your background, but ideally you’ll have:
* A strong environmental focus, and genuine interest in sustainable engineering.
* Experience working with or within regulatory bodies (HSE, OPRED, EA, etc.) or heavily regulated industries like oil & gas, chemicals, or infrastructure.
* Great attention to detail and excellent written communication – you’ll be summarising technical info clearly and accurately.
* Confidence working across teams and functions, and the drive to keep things moving.
* Comfortable managing systems and processes like PLANC, or willing to learn quickly.
Nice to Have (But Not Essential)
* Decommissioning or offshore project experience
* Familiarity with ISO standards (9001 / 14001 / 45001) or SEMS systems
* Experience coordinating audits or sustainability initiatives
Why Apply?
This is a chance to get stuck into meaningful work with a tangible environmental impact. You’ll be working on legacy infrastructure projects that need careful, responsible dismantling and your input will help shape how that’s done.
You’ll be joining a team that values practicality, collaboration, and doing the right thing even when it’s not the easy thing.
