Secondary School
Youth Worker
Wythenshawe
Prospero Teaching is working with a Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) school in Wythenshawe, which caters to students with additional needs and mental health issues.
The role is starting as soon as possible, with the view to remain for the academic year.
The school provides education for pupils who require a specialist provision due to their learning needs, often because mainstream education is unsuitable for them.
The pupils are aged 11-16 (KS3/4), all with EHCP plans and additional needs, and have often experienced trauma, neglect, or chaotic home lives.
Your role involves building connections with students, acting as a mentor and role model, and forging strong relationships to support their engagement.
You will use mentoring skills—similar to those used in sports, drama, or counselling—to help students engage with school both inside and outside the classroom.
Support will be both classroom-based and vocational.
The position is open to experienced mentors and those with a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the contract may be extended or made permanent.
