Art Psychotherapist- HMP High Down/HMP Coldingley

We are recruiting a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Art Psychotherapist to work across our cluster of Surrey prisons. Applications are welcome from experienced Art Psychotherapists with an interest in working with adults in the Criminal Justice System.

* Salary: £53,751 to £60,651 per annum pro rata
* Location: HMP High Down / HMP Coldingley, Highdown Lane, Sutton, Surrey SM2 5PJ
Job Responsibilities
* Provide specialist Art Psychotherapy services for prisoners, including psychological assessment and therapy
* Offer advice and consultation on patients’ psychological care to core healthcare team and prison staff, and to partner agencies
* Work flexibly and autonomously within professional guidelines and contribute to governance of Art Psychotherapy practice
* Contribute to the care plan for service users through clinical meetings and documented summaries, considering complexity, risk, and service priorities
* Collaborate within the Health and Justice Arts Psychotherapies service and integrate with wider healthcare services
* Receive supervision from the Lead Art Psychotherapist to support development and delivery of the integrated service
* Deliver individual and group Art Psychotherapy interventions, with trauma-informed approaches, in a seven-day-a-week service; occasional evenings/weekends may be required
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Good honours degree in art or relevant subject; MA/MSc or equivalent in art psychotherapy
* HCPC registered as an Art Psychotherapist
* Post-qualification autonomous work experience with relevant client groups (groups and individuals)
* Experience with people who have disturbed and challenging behaviour
* Experience in personal psychotherapy
* Experience in assessing patients for arts psychotherapy and making MDT recommendations
* Ability to work with people with complex needs, including aggression, self-harm, and trauma histories
* High standard of verbal and written communication; ability to provide concise feedback and produce clear reports
* Computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate, unbiased documentation
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Additional related qualifications; clinical supervision training; training in breakaway/de-escalation
* Experience in multi-disciplinary settings; trauma-informed practice; lived experience of mental health issues
* Experience in secure settings (prison or secure hospital) and working within a multicultural framework
* Trained to use SystmOne; experienced user of P-NOMIS
