Our client, a leader in the ship repair and fabrication industry, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Health and Safety Advisor to join their growing team in Leith. The HSEQ Lead Advisor is responsible for providing support, assistance, and advice to the business and its activities on risk management, health, safety, and environmental matters. This includes implementing all HSEQ policies and practices for work carried out on-site or at off-site locations.
They will report directly to the HSEQ Manager and advise on the implementation of HSEQ policies, procedures, and practices related to tendered or contracted work packages.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
* Qualifications: NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is essential.
* A background in ship repair, welding/fabrication, or engineering, with experience, is highly advantageous but not essential.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop, promote, and maintain a positive safety culture within the company.
* Oversee the Company HSEQ Advisors across all DMS sites.
* Coach and mentor HSEQ Advisors in QHSE requirements.
* Travel to all DMS sites monthly.
* Build strong relationships with local port authority HSEQ management.
* Assist the HSEQ Manager in creating and managing the annual department improvement plan.
* Manage and lead all HSEQ investigations.
* Close out incident reports and investigations for review by the HSEQ Manager.
* Close out Non-Conformance Reports and process improvement reports and investigations for review by the HSEQ Manager.
* Share lessons learned from investigations with the HSEQ Manager to communicate key findings across all sites.
* Lead or assist in internal and external audits.
* Chair regular site safety committee meetings.
* Participate in monthly HSEQ district meetings.
* Implement monthly safety initiatives on notice boards.
* Conduct recorded monthly HSEQ inspections.
* Provide HSEQ input into pre-qualification questionnaires and tendering services.
* Analyze HSEQ performance data for monthly business reports.
* Assist in managing the company's Safety Culture platform and observation card system.
* Coordinate with other HSEQ teams to review and close open actions.
* Review and manage emergency response drills.
* Develop communication with local fire services for site visits and drills.
* Support safety initiatives and campaigns to enhance the safety culture.
* Deputize for the HSEQ Manager when required.
* Perform other delegated responsibilities as instructed by the HSEQ Manager to meet business needs.
