Overview
As a Refurb Centre Technician / Team Leader at Our Taap, Redhill, England, United Kingdom, your primary focus will be leading the refurbishment process of returned water systems—ensuring every unit is restored to peak performance and ready to delight customers once again. You'll combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership skills to drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the refurb centre. From diagnosing faults to implementing process enhancements, you'll be at the heart of our mission to deliver flawless water systems with zero compromise.
Responsibilities
* Lead, motivate, and support a small team of refurbishment technicians
* Collaborate with the Operations Manager to set clear goals and expectations
* Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback
* Cultivate a collaborative, results-driven team culture
* Identify and facilitate training and development opportunities
* Diagnose root causes of product returns and carry out refurbishment of returned or broken water home systems, following specifications and training provided by the Quality Manager
* Ensure all repairs are completed correctly the first time to prevent repeat returns
* Maintain high standards of technical accuracy and attention to detail
* Collaborate with the Quality Manager to identify recurring issues and suggest process improvements that enhance repair quality and reduce future returns
* Install water systems in customers\\' homes when required, ensuring plumbing is error-free and the kitchen is left clean and tidy
* Set up and demonstrate the water system for the customer, ensuring they understand and enjoy all the features of Our Taap
* Carry out in-home repairs to water systems, aiming for a first-time fix to avoid return visits
* Ensure customers are delighted with their system restored to full working order
* Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process guidelines
* Accurately record stock usage and refurbishment data in internal systems
* Ensure refurb centre stock aligns with system counts through regular audits
* Complete scheduled stock takes with precision and timeliness
* Organise stock transfers of refurbished machines to the distribution centre, ensuring timely and accurate movement of goods
* Liaise with the Supply Chain Planning team to communicate stock requirements and support inventory forecasting
Qualifications and Skills
* GCSE or equivalent by experience
* Full clean UK driving license
* Forklift license is preferred but not essential as training will be provided
* Minimum 1 year's experience in a similar role
* Experience implementing process improvements
* Problem-solving skills
* Ability to tackle basic plumbing tasks
* Reliable and dependable with strong time-management
* Excellent communication and people skills
* Ability to work independently and juggle priorities
* Team player and able to work under pressure
* Willingness to analyse situations and develop effective solutions
* MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint – good to very good knowledge
* Scheduling software – good knowledge; CRM – good knowledge
