Visa Sponsorship

This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract.


Main duties of the job

To provide excellent, high-quality person-centred clinical care that advocates for patients, strives to provide a service fit for today and the future, and develops personal leadership to support clinical growth. The post is a key part of the OT discharge service supporting registered staff with the assessment and rehabilitation. This role includes:

* Assessment of trauma and elective patients who have been referred to Occupational Therapy;
* Taking equipment out to patients’ homes and fitting items (training will be given);
* Setting up / providing follow up visits for prescribed equipment;
* Maintenance of stock;
* Liaison with outside agencies and patients’ families;
* Teaching patients and their families how to use and fit the equipment;
* Undertaking falls assessments.

The post is based at Frimley Park Hospital but applicants must be able to travel between all Frimley Health's hospitals and patients' homes.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

* GCSE or equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics;
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

Desirable criteria

* Foundation Degree or equivalent in related field, or willingness to work towards.

Experience

Essential criteria

* Experience as Band 3 Therapy assistant within an NHS setting;
* Leading and delivering exercise programmes in a hospital setting;
* Working within a team;
* Experience of working directly with patients.

Desirable criteria

* Undertaking exercise prescription for people with long term conditions;
* Evaluating outcomes of exercise or use of equipment.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

* Knowledge of anatomy/physiology;
* Specific clinical knowledge relevant to speciality;
* Interpersonal skills including concise and effective verbal and written communication;
* Ability to instruct and motivate;
* IT skills.

Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of therapy interventions acquired through training or experience within a healthcare setting;
* Negotiation skills, able to overcome barriers to exercise.

Special Requirements

* Must hold a valid driving licence and be able to deliver and fit equipment into patient’s homes;
* Willingness to work flexibly.
