Overview
We are seeking experienced professionals to join our client’s coding team, specialising in understanding and mapping medical services and items to standardised codes with precision and accuracy. The Coding Analyst will support ongoing development of our client’s coding related systems and services. Identifying opportunities for product enhancements and developments. Assisting the Coding Team and Coding Manager in ensuring customer cases are picked up within SLA and processes are followed as expected.
The Role
1. Mapping clinical terminologies to clinical codes across classifications including OPCS, CCSD, ICD10, ICD9, and ISCs.
2. Accurately map codes using reference code sets for various medical descriptions, including prosthesis, consumables, diagnostic tests, and other healthcare services.
3. Mapping clinical codes to genders, anatomical classifications, and specialties.
4. Leading the ongoing development of the ISC classification and liaising with customers for new code development.
5. Supporting development of coding related systems and services, and identifying opportunities for enhancements.
6. Supporting and training colleagues in clinical coding.
7. Handling customer and internal cases, ensuring timely responses within SLA.
8. Ensuring data and processes meet standards.
9. Advising customers and teams on optimal coding practices.
10. Managing customer support issues, analyzing data, and producing reports.
11. Supporting the loading of provider/insurer contracts.
12. Investigating and resolving coding discrepancies with analytical skills.
The Person
1. Degree educated or equivalent qualification.
2. Knowledge of the private medical insurance industry and regulated environments is advantageous.
3. Experience with health tech software and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
4. Clinical coding expertise, with experience in CCSD, ICD, or similar systems.
5. Operational procedures and QA standards knowledge.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Vlookups, Pivots).
7. Strong analytical, organizational, and attention to detail skills.
8. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
9. Initiative, enthusiasm, and multi-tasking ability.
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
11. Team player with stakeholder management skills.
