Job description
You're good at commercial property underwriting. You know the mid-market inside out. And you're probably bored of reading job ads that list the same tired clichés about "stakeholder engagement" and "driving results".
Here's the deal.
This role is about taking ownership of a mid-market commercial property portfolio and actually making it perform better. That means:
1. Making smart calls on pricing and risk.
2. Working with clever people in Pricing, Actuarial, Data Science, Finance and Claims (the ones who love a spreadsheet more than life itself).
3. Helping underwriters in the regions understand strategy without needing a degree in rocket science to follow it.
4. Figuring out where growth really is and where it isn't - and then doing something about it.
It's not about hiding behind process. It's about thinking commercially, backing yourself technically, and having a say in how the business grows.
What you'll need
5. A solid grounding in commercial property underwriting (mid-market, not micro-SME).
6. Experience steering a portfolio, not just handling a case load.
7. Enough commercial acumen to understand the P&L and not glaze over.
8. Communication skills that work with both underwriters and the senior suits.
9. A head for strategy but a willingness to roll your sleeves up when needed.
What's in it for you?
10. A salary and bonus package that reflects the fact
11. A pension contribution that's generous enough to make your future self very grateful.
12. Proper hybrid working - office when it matters, home when it doesn't.
13. Holidays, healthcare, shares, discounts - all the things you'd expect at this level.
Why bother?
Because this isn't just another underwriter job. You'll have real ownership, visibility, and the ability to shape a portfolio that sits at the heart of the business.
If you're tired of underwriting jobs that feel like a box-ticking exercise and want one where your decisions actually count - this is probably worth a chat.
