Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced CNC Turner to join their production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming Mazak CNC lathes to manufacture precision fasteners, nuts, bolts, and threaded components to customer specifications. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist with experience in high-volume precision manufacturing and a strong understanding of turning operations, tooling, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
* Program, set, and run Mazak CNC lathes efficiently and safely
* Manufacture precision fasteners, nuts, bolts, and threaded components to specification
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and tolerances
* Select and install tooling, work holding, and machine offsets
* Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality checks
* Measure finished parts using precision inspection equipment
* Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish standards
* Monitor machine performance and optimise machining cycles where possible
* Troubleshoot tooling, programming, and machining issues
* Complete production and quality documentation accurately
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
* Carry out routine machine maintenance and daily checks
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a CNC Turner within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment
* Experience setting and operating CNC lathes independently
* Programming knowledge on Mazak controls (Mazatrol preferred)
* Experience machining steel, stainless steel, and other engineering materials
* Strong understanding of threaded component manufacturing and turning processes
* Ability to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Engineering apprenticeship or relevant machining qualification (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent)
* Experience in fastener or threaded component manufacturing preferred
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
