What's involved with this role: Senior Finance Analyst Job Ref: Brent 5285073 Pay Rate: £34.27 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 36 Monday – Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 3 months Brent, HA9 0FJ Summary of what the candidate must have to apply : CCAB qualified accountant with strong post qualification experience Evidence of significant CPD Proven experience providing senior financial advice in a large and complex organisatio Strong background managing and advising on large, complex budgets, including delivering measurable improvements Experience preparing statutory accounts, government returns and complex financial reporting Ability to lead, mentor and manage staff effectively, including analysts, officers and apprentices The role: The post supports a significant area of the council's budget, acting as senior financial advisor and providing specialist expertise across a broad range of financial and accounting matters. Responsibilities include leading financial processes, ensuring robust financial controls, supporting strategic decision making and acting as a senior point of contact for managers across the council. Key accountabilities: Lead and manage staff to deliver high performance, operational efficiency and improved capability Provide expert senior financial advice to officers and directors across the council Act as lead advisor for major budget areas, often exceeding £100m Coordinate key financial processes including major elements of annual accounts, complex reporting and budget setting Undertake value for money reviews, unit costing and financial analysis to support service improvement and commercial decision making Ensure statutory reporting is completed accurately and on time, including government returns and annual accounts submissions Draft financial implications for committee reports and brief senior leadership as required Maintain strong financial controls, identifying risks and intervening where necessary Requirements/key criteria: CCAB accounting qualification Extensive financial leadership experience in a large, complex organisation Strong ability to analyse and interpret large datasets, financial legislation and complex business processes Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex financial issues to a non-technical audience Strong interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills Ability to plan, organise and deliver work to meet individual, team and service objectives Experience of supporting procurement, commercial negotiations and contractor financial assessments beneficial How to Apply Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
