LGPS Central (LGPSC) Ltd is the FCA-regulated asset manager for eight local authority pension funds across the Midlands. LGPSC is jointly owned on an equal shares basis by those Partner Fund, and it is responsible for managing almost £30bn of their assets. It is one of eight Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) asset pools in the UK. LGPSC has just celebrated its fifth birthday, and in those first five years, together with its Partner Funds, it has achieved a considerable amount.

LGPS Central is owned equally by all eight of its Partner Funds and is dedicated to the management of local government pension assets. LGPS Central manages assets across public and private markets both internally and through externally appointed investment managers.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate to join our Finance team.
This role will suit someone with experience in a similar technical role and the ability to communicate well and build relationships quickly will be key for this role, as well as being able to grasp the structure of the organisation and how we operate.
The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Senior Finance Manager and Finance Manager in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of the company’s financial operations.
The role will be responsible for making a significant contribution to the work of the Finance team as a whole, including financial reporting and management accounting, budgeting, regulatory reporting, cost-sharing reporting to partner funds and operational finance.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Competence:
* Able to communicate technical Finance information in a way which is understandable and relevant.
* Good reasoning and problem-solving skills, able to develop pragmatic solutions to complex problems.
* Able to use own initiative within delegated authority.
* Active participant in continuous personal and professional development, who seeks to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of matters relevant to their area of work.
* Able to build effective relationships with peers in the company.
* Highly organised and able to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities under significant time pressures.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience of working in a Finance, Pensions or Investments role.
* Strong ethics and integrity, and an analytical
* Able to act as an ambassador for the Finance team within the company
* Able to understand the overarching aims and objectives of the company, and how the work of the Finance team contributes to these.
* Innovative and actively challenges existing ways of working, driving improvements within the Finance team.
* A good team-player who is able to work collaboratively and support other members of the Finance team.
Qualifications
* Qualified or part-qualified CCAB/CIMA Accountant; or
* AAT-qualified; or
* At least 3 GCSEs including Mathematics
