MWH have now been awarded Projects at Dukinfield, Aston-Under-Lyne, Arnfield, Godley, Hyde and Wigan and Skelmersdale across the AMP8 Framework Agreement with United Utilities. We are looking to strengthen our Construction and Project delivery teams with Site Engineers assigned to a project or section within our programme of work.
Reporting to the Senior Site Engineer or Sub-Agent, you will be part of the Site Engineering team ensuring the effective planning, control, and delivery of engineering activities on site. The Civil Site Engineer will provide accurate setting out, technical assurance, quality control, and safety leadership across construction operations, supporting the project team to achieve right-first-time delivery in line with design, programme, budget, and industry standards. The role is fundamental in ensuring works are executed safely, accurately, and efficiently, while contributing to continuous improvement and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Delivery & Technical Control
1. Lead the setting out and dimensional control of works, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design specifications.
2. Maintain and manage survey equipment including calibration and routine checks.
3. Maintain accurate as‑built records, surveys, and drawings.
4. Raise and manage Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
5. Support development of construction methodologies, temporary works requirements, and build sequences.
Quality Assurance & Technical Assurance
6. Develop, manage and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
7. Manage NCRs, corrective actions, and quality control documentation
8. Apply quality assurance principles to ensure the scheme is delivered as designed
9. Provide technical guidance to site teams to ensure compliance with project and industry standards
Health, Safety & Environment
10. Write and review RAMS / Safe Systems of Work
11. Promote and lead a positive safety culture, supporting Zero Harm objectives
12. Issue permits to work
Planning & Progress Control
13. Input to short‑term lookahead programmes
14. Monitor progress against programme and report productivity
15. Support procurement activities through material take‑offs, scheduling, ordering, and tracking
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
16. Provide coaching, technical guidance, and support to graduate and trainee engineers
17. Support non‑working supervisors in delivering safe and high‑quality works
18. Liaise with subcontractors, monitor performance and ensure integration with overall works
Digital Engineering & Innovation
19. Utilise digital tools (BIM, AutoCAD, Pix4D) to support accurate control of works
20. Promote continuous improvement and innovation in engineering delivery
