Got a calm head, a kind heart, and a talent for helping children feel safe and seen? This could be the role for you.
We’re working with a number of specialist SEMH primary schools in Shropshire that are looking for caring, resilient, and reliable Teaching Assistants to join their teams. These schools support children who’ve often faced difficult starts, whether that’s trauma, unmet needs, or challenges in mainstream settings.
They’re looking for trusted adults who can be a steady presence, listen without judgment, and consistently show up for the children who need it most.
The Role:
* Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with SEMH and additional needs
* Building strong, trusting relationships to boost emotional regulation and classroom engagement
* Assisting teachers with delivering adapted lessons and routines that work for every child
* Supporting positive behaviour using relational, trauma-informed approaches
* Helping create a safe, inclusive space where every child feels they belong
The Right Person Will:
* Have experience with children or young people with SEMH, autism, or additional needs (in schools, care, or similar settings)
* Bring strong communication and behaviour support skills
* Be calm, consistent, and incredibly patient
* Understand (or be keen to learn) trauma-informed and restorative practices
* Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be happy to apply for one)
Why Join Protocol Education?
* Free CPD, including Thrive and trauma-informed practice training
* A local consultant who understands SEMH schools and will support you every step of the way
* Real career progression into longer-term or permanent roles
* Ongoing wellbeing support, because you can’t pour from an empty cup
If you’re ready to help children feel safe enough to learn and supported enough to grow, we’d love to hear from you.
