Role Responsibility
We have an exciting opportunity within Community Services for Support Workers, working within the East Kent locality, supporting individuals with learning and/or physical disabilities to access and be part of their local community.
You will work from various hubs within this locality and support individuals in community settings, helping them plan and achieve outcome-focused sessions. Although based at The Crawford Centre, you will be expected to travel across the locality as needed.
You will assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of people with learning and/or physical disabilities by using a person-centred approach, providing encouragement, support, and assistance, promoting social inclusion, rights, and choices under the supervision of a senior staff member and within relevant procedures and legislation, to enable individuals to live more independent and fulfilled lives.
Relevant experience in care and support, including voluntary and personal experiences, is desirable. Experience working with people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities is preferred. You may need to escort individuals on the service minibus to access community sessions.
You should hold a Diploma Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, or be willing to undertake this training. You will need to complete a satisfactory induction, including the Care Certificate, medication workbook, and mandatory training.
This position is customer-facing, and the Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure candidates have sufficient command of spoken English/Welsh for the role. The post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
