Are you ready to lead on strategic procurement and make a real impact? Nottinghamshire Police is looking for a proactive and commercially-minded Commercial Lead to join our Finance team.
What’s the Role About?
As our Commercial Lead, you’ll set the direction for procurement activities, ensuring we get the best value for money while staying compliant with regulations. You’ll work closely with colleagues and stakeholders, lead on key projects, and help drive commercial excellence across the organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead and manage procurement processes, including large-scale tenders, frameworks, and quotations.
* Advise and train the team on public procurement processes and best practices.
* Ensure all procurement activities comply with current legislation and internal policies.
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximise long-term benefits.
* Motivate and develop your team to achieve departmental and organisational goals.
* Act as the main advisor on legal and policy matters related to procurement.
* Own and deliver projects that support the wider objectives of the Force.
* Represent the Commercial team at national and regional events.
* Drive change and continuous improvement in commercial activities.
What You’ll Need
* MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) qualification or equivalent experience (or working towards it).
* Strong knowledge and experience in procurement, including public sector regulations and contract law.
* Experience leading and developing teams to achieve high performance.
* Project management skills (PRINCE2 or equivalent is a plus).
* Ability to manage complex budgets and deliver multiple projects with competing deadlines.
* Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
* Customer-focused approach and a drive for commercial excellence.
* Play a key role in shaping procurement strategy for a major public sector organisation.
