Job Description
Leonardo is offering a Principal Test Solutions Engineer position. The role is responsible for engineering management and development of test solutions for complex electronic systems (RF, digital, analogue).
Responsibilities
* Create and capture Test Equipment Requirements for RF, digital and analogue test systems.
* Create and capture Production Test Requirements for main equipment, covering PCB and system level testing.
* Support subcontracting of complex test solutions to the supply chain.
* Maintain relationships with LEUK and third‑party suppliers to deliver test solutions on schedule and within budget.
* Resolve technical queries from main product suppliers in a timely manner.
* Implement effective life‑cycle design reviews and identify technical risks with mitigation strategies.
* Maintain main equipment configuration baseline with third‑party supplier information.
* Support integration and commissioning of delivered test solutions.
* Provide input to Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards.
* Manage concessions and ensure closure plans are in place and enacted.
* Perform Design for Test assessments on analogue, digital and RF products.
Qualifications
* Hands‑on experience designing complex test solutions across the full life‑cycle.
* Good understanding of a range of electronic technologies from DC to light and of systems/software life‑cycle engineering.
* Experience working with external suppliers and outsourcing complex work packages.
* Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand.
* Degree qualified (or equivalent).
* Experience in schedule planning and budget control.
* Excellent communication skills with a broad range of stakeholders.
* Leadership competency with ability to work in a team.
* Knowledge of engineering life‑cycle and business process.
Desirable Additional Qualifications
* Understanding of digital/analogue/RF systems with ESM and ECM.
* Experience in the defence electronics sector, ideally with airborne sensor systems.
* Chartered Engineer status or membership of a professional engineering institution.
* Travel within the UK and Europe may be required.
