Role: Events Manager Location: Durham Salary: £28,000-29,000 pa Hours : Monday – Friday with an early finish on Fridays. About the Role: Our client is a membership-based organisation focused on multiple energy sectors, delivering high-quality services to their members and partners. Our Client is seeking an experienced Events Manager to support the successful delivery of their diverse events programme. Each year, they deliver a wide range of B2B events—including networking lunches, workshops, webinars, social gatherings, and meet-the-buyer sessions. In this role, you will take ownership of events from planning through to execution. Key Responsibilities of the Events Manager: Manage all logistical and operational aspects of events from concept to completion. This includes effective communication with delegates, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, and VIPs. Coordinate with stakeholders, partners, and external suppliers—ensuring value through strong negotiation, cost control, and efficient use of resources. Create detailed event plans outlining venue selection, supplier coordination, event themes, operational timelines, speaker programmes, and progress tracking to ensure seamless delivery. Maintain and monitor event budgets, master schedules, and P&L statements. Provide accurate financial forecasts and collaborate with the finance team on reconciliations, ensuring monthly and annual targets are met. Drive income generation through proactive sponsorship and exhibition sales. Manage and convert leads, build relationships, and maximise commercial opportunities across all events. Develop strategic event marketing plans with compelling key messages to attract and engage delegates, sponsors, and exhibitors. Collaborate with the Marketing team on execution. Work with marketing and design teams to produce all event-related materials, including digital flyers, programmes, signage, presentation templates, exhibition floorplans, and toolkits. Manage event setup and dismantling, ensuring smooth, professional delivery on the ground. Allocate administrative tasks to the Events Administrator, ensuring timely and high-quality completion of responsibilities. Lead pre-event briefings, regular team updates, and post-event debriefs. Share outcomes, reports, and coordinate follow-ups including acknowledgements to speakers and sponsors. Monitor the use of our clients branding internally and externally to ensure alignment with brand guidelines. Oversee event-related communications and social media, addressing reputation management where necessary. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance events, increase value for attendees and partners, digitise processes, and reduce costs and environmental impact. Prioritise Health, Safety & Well-being Ensure risk assessments are completed and that the safety and well-being of attendees and the team are always prioritised. Attend and contribute to planning and strategy meetings as required, sharing insights and ideas for future improvements. Develop an understanding of the niche energy sector. Skills & Experience required: Minimum of three years’ experience in event management with a strong understanding of business, marketing, and administration. Proven track record in delivering both face-to-face and virtual events. Project management experience, including planning, execution, and post-event evaluation. Confident in managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in using CRM systems. Knowledgeable in the application of AI tools to improve event and marketing efficiency. Strong creative abilities with a good eye for detail. Experience in developing and delivering effective event marketing campaigns. Comfortable using social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok for promotional purposes. Experienced in managing, maintaining, and building relationships with stakeholders, third-party suppliers, and businesses of all sizes.
