Offer description

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. Scottish Water is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and adaptable individual to join our Customer Service Delivery Team in the Isle of Arran as a Multifunctional Water Operative.  What youâll do  In this role, youâll join a skilled team dedicated to protecting water quality and the environment.  Youâll play a key part in maintaining and monitoring processes at both our Water Treatment Works and Water Networks.  In the Water Treatment area, youâll ensure accurate reporting, adjust processes based on sample results, and help keep everything running smoothly with regular maintenance.  In the Water Networks area, youâll focus on repairing and maintaining the water network, addressing customer concerns, and working to resolve issues quickly to maintain a positive reputation with our customers.  What youâll need  To succeed in this role, youâll need great communication skills and the confidence to work independently, taking responsibility for completing tasks efficiently. Strong attention to detail is essential, especially when recording information and spotting any changes in monitoring data. Youâll need to be a problem-solver, ready to tackle issues as they arise, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment.  A good understanding of health and safety practices is important, along with the ability to quickly pick up new systems and complete online training. Experience working with internal and external stakeholders is a bonus, as is any knowledge of Scottish Waterâs operations or the wider legislative and regulatory environment.  Weâre also looking for a strong team player whoâs willing to roll up their sleevesâthis is a hands-on role in a physical environment, where youâll sometimes be working in challenging conditions. But donât worry, full training and protective equipment will be provided to keep you safe.  Looking out for youâ¯Â  While the work we do is important, we know itâs not the only thing that matters. Thatâs why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.â¯Â  This role includes standby responsibilities. But youâll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.⯠ When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.â¯â¯Â  For your future, thereâs our pension (the âknow-what-youâll-get-when-you-retireâ kind), as well as life assurance.â¯â¯Â  As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash â handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.⯠  The not-so-small print â¯Â  This role will be a Grade 4. If youâre new to Scottish Water, youâll join us on a starting salary of £27.590. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £32,410.  If youâre interested in this role â or know someone else who might be - weâll be accepting applications until midnight on 11th June 2025.  Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. Screening is conducted on our behalf by a third party, and must be completed before your start date. Donât worry - weâll only start these checks once youâve accepted an offer. A few final things worth knowing⦠ Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If youâre interested in this job, but donât tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So donât rule yourself out!  Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. Weâre very used to making adjustments, so please donât be afraid to ask.  As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, itâs important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you donât already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.  Finally (finally!), candidates who havenât submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You wonât need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted. Weâre here to help. Ask us anything at SWRecruitment@ScottishWater.co.uk Â
