We are looking for an experienced Full Stack PHP Developer to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid work environment with fixed working hours; focusing on developing internal business applications that leverage spatial data within an open-source technology stack.

Description

Our team includes planners, geologists, legal professionals, and property experts, offering a unique opportunity to work alongside specialists beyond the technology sector while also engaging with our internal Breedon technology teams. You will contribute to the development of digital tools that enhance geospatial data analysis, strategic planning, and business decision-making driving direct operational improvements.
The ideal candidate will be naturally curious, passionate about clean code, best practices, and scalable software development, and excited by the idea of combining software development with real-world applications in land, minerals, and property.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with travel to site as needed. There will also be periodic in-person meetings held at the company's offices.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain robust, bespoke web applications using PHP, SQL, and Laravel (or similar MVC frameworks).
* Work with spatial data to create innovative solutions for internal business applications.
* Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team to enhance and maintain our existing application portfolio while developing new bespoke solutions that support property planning and strategic development initiatives.
* Refactor and modernise legacy codebases to improve maintainability, performance, and scalability.
* Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and optimise workflows and processes.
* Maintain thorough technical documentation for knowledge sharing and future reference.
* Follow and advocate for coding best practices, clean code principles.
* Work with REST APIs and integrate third-party services where necessary.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* A minimum of three years’ experience working with PHP in a commercial environment.
* Strong proficiency in modern PHP with experience in MVC frameworks.
* Proficient in SQL and database optimisation.
* Experience working with frontend JavaScript frameworks and common web technologies.
* Experience with Git and common version control workflows.
* Strong understanding of RESTful API development and integration.
Desirable
* Familiarity with spatial data and GIS technologies.
* Experience with “TALL stack” Tailwind/Alpine/Livewire & Laravel.
* Apache Web Server Management, Knowledge of configuring and maintaining Apache web servers and their extensions.
* Experience with SharePoint and its REST API.
* Adobe Creative Suite experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign).
