We’re looking for an Environmental Support Worker to support our theatre staff and ensure a safe, clean environment for patient care.
There will be a rotation of shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities
* Maintain Theatre Cleanliness & Standards
o Carry out cleaning of theatres and associated areas in line with Trust policies and infection control standards.
o Complete and record cleaning schedules accurately.
o Inspect areas to ensure standards are met and raise any issues to the Theatre Coordinator.
o Support HCIA audits and contribute to continuous improvement.
* Support a Safe Environment
o Monitor theatre areas for environmental or safety issues and record and raise faults.
o Complete Datix reports where required.
o Adhere to Health & Safety and infection control guidelines at all times.
* Equipment & Ancillary Area Cleaning
o Clean medical equipment according to manufacturers’ instructions and Trust procedures.
o Maintain cleanliness of storerooms, kitchens and non‑clinical fridges.
o Ensure all documentation and checklists are completed.
* Suction & Gas Cylinder Checks
o Replace and dispose of suction canisters safely.
o Check, store and replenish gas cylinders to ensure adequate supply.
o Report any irregularities or safety concerns promptly.
* Waste Management
o Work with portering and ancillary teams to ensure correct waste segregation and disposal.
o Support inspections of dirty returns areas and raise concerns.
o Follow Trust protocols for sharps, needlestick incidents and body fluid contamination.
* Communication & Team Support
o Communicate effectively with theatre staff about cleanliness, safety and environmental issues.
o Ensure concerns are escalated appropriately through the Theatre Coordinator.
* Training & Personal Development
o Participate in appraisal and maintain a personal development plan.
o Complete mandatory training and maintain competency with relevant equipment.
