Department: Center Staff
Location: Burbank YMCA
Description
Under the supervision of the Head Swim Coach, this position is assists with swim team practices and swim meets as needed. Nights and Sundays required.
* Must have active Lifeguard Certifications. (ex. YMCA, Red Cross)
Key Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:
* Provide quality and consistency in all assigned workouts throughout all levels of ability.
* Attend meets and practices as needed.
* Write and implement workouts for each practice as instructed by head coach.
* Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
* Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand each individual’s goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
* All other duties as assigned.
* At least 18 years of age.
* No experience necessary, training to be completed on site. Competitive swimming or coaching experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
* At times, be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
* Primarily evening and weekends, some weekends will require early morning practices or meets.
* Travel will be necessary to meets and potentially practice sites.

* Child Abuse Prevention (within first four weeks of employment)
* Respect in the Workplace (Sexual Harassment Prevention)
* CPR, First Aid, O2
* YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming & Diving
* USA Swimming Certification (as required by location)
* Safety Training for Coaches or YMCA Lifeguarding
