SEMH Teaching Assistant (Full-Time) - Stretford

We are a specialist education recruitment agency seeking a resilient and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary SEMH school in Stretford. This is a full-time role working with primary-aged pupils who require additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children who may display challenging behaviours and helping them to re-engage with education in a positive and structured environment.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Build strong, positive relationships to support pupils' emotional regulation and engagement
Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted lessons and activities
Support behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
Promote a safe, nurturing, and consistent learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A genuine commitment to supporting pupils' wellbeing and development
Relevant qualifications or training (e.g., Team Teach) are desirable but not essentialWhat We Offer:
