Offer description

University of Sheffield We have an exciting opportunity in the Division of Clinical Medicine for someone with a passion for disease modelling looking to use their skills in in vivo modelling and drug screening to make an impact on translatable research. Rare connective tissue disorders have a significant impact on patient lives and increasing research on drug screening in in vivo models are improving patient healthcare. You will join the Balasubramanian lab in Firth Court to investigate specific genes involved in Osteogenesis Imperfecta, as well as other connective tissue disorders, in zebrafish disease models. As this role requires detailed, deep-phenotyping and molecular analysis, it provides an excellent opportunity to develop your microscopy skills, molecular biology and data/image analysis. This role offers you the opportunity to multitask projects and contribute to the maintenance of the Balasubramanian Lab to promote productive and efficient high-quality research. Educated to a Masters level, you will have the commitment and drive to ask hypothesis-driven questions to better understand disease mechanisms and their impact in Osteogenesis Imperfecta. You will have the potential to publish in journals and present your data at internal research events. In vivo modelling and microscopy experience is essential, with a genetics and molecular biology background desirable. We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous pension scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development. We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
