Healthcare Support Worker

The HCSW is part of the multidisciplinary team and plays a vital role, providing holistic, patient‑centred care which is planned and directed by health care professionals. The post holder is expected to cover the duties of other HCSW colleagues within the range of the post holder's knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
The HCSW will complete performance necessary patient care tasks delegated by a registered nurse or midwife, under their supervision such as undertaking personal care duties and recording patient information.
Undertake personal and professional development activities to uphold care standards, such as completing the 15 standards of the Care Certificate and the associated workbook within a timeframe of normally 206 months from commencement of employment.
Follow all London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) policies and provide a safe and person‑centred environment for the treatment of patients.
The post holder is responsible for delivering high standards of personal care, providing services in accordance with the Trusts values and behaviours to support the nursing team in the delivery of patient care which is safe and effective.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* Completed Care Certificate or equivalent experience
* Level 3 Health Care qualification/apprenticeship or equivalent relevant experience or completion of HCSW competency‑based workbook.
* Functional skills minimum Level 1 Maths and English or GCSE or equivalent experience
* Further qualifications and training relevant and required by the speciality of this post
* Competencies for existing substantive HCSW
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of working in Acute Hospital setting or care background, in a HCSW role or equivalent
* Experience of delivering personal care to patients
* Experience of using computers or willing to undertake training in local computer systems
* Knowledge of basic IT systems or willing to undertake training
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge of data protection and health and safety issue
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Competently perform a range of the core skills relevant to the area of speciality
Skills, abilities and Attributes
